Codenames: Pictures is a fast, clever team-based deduction game where spymasters give one-word clues to guide their teammates toward the correct illustrated cards on the table, while avoiding the opponent’s images, neutral bystanders, and the deadly assassin.
With imaginative artwork and layered visual clues, it offers a highly replayable twist on the best-selling Codenames formula.
In Codenames: Pictures, the spy world takes on a clever visual twist. Instead of words, each location on the map is represented by a surreal, layered illustration, full of hidden meanings and unexpected combinations. Rival spymasters know the identities of agents concealed within these images and must communicate with their teammates using just one word and a number. Their clues must connect multiple pictures at once, making every choice feel like a brilliant breakthrough… or a dangerous gamble.
Players arrange 20 whimsical image cards on the table, then spymasters reveal a shared key card that shows which images belong to their team, the opposing team, neutral bystanders, and the deadly assassin. Each turn, a spymaster gives a clue that links to several pictures while operatives must discuss, interpret, and trust their instincts as they choose which images to reveal. A correct guess brings the team closer to success; a wrong guess may aid the opponents, waste precious time, or instantly end the mission if the assassin is uncovered.
Codenames: Pictures keeps the strategic tension of the original game while creating a more intuitive and visual experience. Every image is packed with multiple conceptual layers, making the game endlessly replayable and accessible to all types of players. The team that successfully identifies all of their agents first emerges victorious—provided they avoid a fatal misinterpretation.
