Happy City

In Happy City, each player starts with a small city and works to develop it into a thriving community. Each round, you earn income from the buildings you already own, then use your money to purchase new buildings from the available market. Buildings can provide different combinations of coins, residents, and happiness, so choosing what to build is an important part of your strategy.

However, simply buying the most expensive buildings is not enough. You need to build a city where your different cards work well together, while keeping enough income coming in to afford better buildings later. Some buildings provide more residents, while others generate greater happiness or income, so you need to decide which areas of your city to prioritise. The limited market also means that the building you want may not still be available when your turn comes around.

The game ends when a player completes a city of 10 cards. Players then calculate their final happiness based on the number of residents and hearts they have accumulated. With straightforward rules and meaningful choices every turn, Happy City offers an accessible introduction to city-building and engine-building games, while still giving experienced players plenty of opportunities to optimise their city.
