In HEAT: Pedal to the Metal, players take control of powerful race cars and compete to be the first across the finish line. Each turn, you play cards from your hand to determine your car’s speed, with the number on your played cards controlling how far you move. But racing at top speed comes with a cost: your engine generates Heat, and too much heat can clog your deck with cards that slow you down.
Managing your Heat is therefore just as important as accelerating. Players can use cooler cards to manage their engines, while taking corners requires careful control of speed. Entering a corner too quickly can force you to take additional Heat, so you need to decide when to brake and when to risk pushing your car to the limit. Slipstreaming and other racing effects also give you opportunities to catch up or overtake your opponents.
The game also includes a Garage Module that allows players to customise their cars with different upgrade cards, giving each race a different feel. With multiple tracks, changing conditions, and several ways to approach the race, HEAT: Pedal to the Metal combines the excitement of motorsport with strategic hand management, creating a race where knowing when to accelerate—and when to hold back—can make all the difference.
