Welcome to the South Pole! In Pengoloo, players race to collect six penguins by remembering which colourful eggs are hidden underneath them. It’s a simple and engaging memory game that also encourages colour recognition, fine motor skills and early strategic thinking.
At the start of the game, one coloured egg is hidden beneath each penguin and the penguins are mixed up in the centre of the table. On your turn, roll the two colour dice. You then have two chances to lift penguins and try to find eggs matching the colours shown on the dice. Everyone gets to see the egg each time a penguin is lifted, so paying attention on other players’ turns can really pay off!
Find one matching egg and you collect that penguin for your iceberg. Find both colours and you collect both penguins — and get to play again! If neither egg matches, return the penguins and play passes to the next player. You can even check penguins that have already been collected, so a good memory becomes increasingly important as the game goes on.
For older or more confident players, an advanced rule allows you to take matching penguins from your opponents’ icebergs, adding a little more strategy and friendly competition. Be the first player to collect six penguins and you win the eggs-pedition!
