Peranakan – Tiles and Tactics

In Peranakan: Tiles and Tactics, players step into a vibrant Peranakan world where beautiful tiles, colourful motifs, and delicious Nyonya kueh come together in a strategic tile-placement game. Players take turns selecting Peranakan Tiles and placing them onto the shared game board, while collecting kueh from the supply next to their chosen tile. The tiles feature motifs inspired by Peranakan heritage, including auspicious animals, household ceramics, and kasut manik beaded slippers, while the batik-inspired game board showcases flowers from Singapore and Southeast Asia.

But collecting kueh is only part of the strategy. After placing a tile, players can send one of their Nyonyas or Babas onto it. These characters help collect kueh when their respective areas of the board become fully filled with tiles, creating opportunities to plan ahead and position your pieces where they will be most useful. Players can also stack a tile on a space that already has one tile, adding another layer of tactical decision-making as the shared board develops.

The goal is to collect as many complete sets of kueh as possible, with one set consisting of one of each of the four types of kueh. The game ends when the tile deck, kueh supplies, or available Nyonyas and Babas are exhausted, and the player with the most sets wins. With simple-to-learn rules, meaningful tactical choices, and artwork inspired by Singapore’s Peranakan culture, Peranakan: Tiles and Tactics offers a fun way to experience local heritage through a colourful and accessible strategy game.
