In Love Letter, players compete to get their love letter into the hands of the Princess while protecting their own card from the other players. Each player begins a round with just one card in hand and draws another on their turn. They must then play one card and resolve its ability, making every card choice an important decision.
The palace characters each have a different ability. A Guard can attempt to guess another player’s card, a Baron compares hands and eliminates the player with the lower-ranked card, while the Prince forces another player to discard their hand and draw a replacement. The powerful Princess is valuable but dangerous—if you discard her, you are immediately eliminated from the round.
Because players only hold one or two cards at a time, every action provides information. Remembering which cards have already been played, watching your opponents’ choices, and making educated guesses are all crucial to success. Win a round by being the last player standing or holding the highest card when the deck runs out, then collect a Favour Token. The first player to collect enough Favour Tokens wins the game. The 2nd Edition supports up to six players and adds the Spy and Chancellor roles.
